An Unusual Pairing

A pair of fatigues isn’t always the simplest task to pull off without looking sloppy, especially when the name tag in the back says Engineered Garments. For the shorter fellas, like myself, EG just doesn’t fit right, the wide legged pant makes us look pretty foolish, so I had these EG BDU’s tapered to about a 15″ opening, which is just the right width if you ask me. I suggest anyone to just hit up the surplus store, pick up a pair of fatigues and get them tapered; look for draw strings at the ankles too, kind of a nice feat if you ask me.

I found an old pair of vintage oxfords laying in my old man’s closet and judging by the years of dust layers, I didn’t even ask and made em mine. Topped with a white shirt, the unusual pairing is a great look for the summer (oh yeah, sans socks please).

I’ve been seeing a lot of Herringbone weave patterns in the last couple of seasons. It’s one of those things, that make a garment noteworthy, kind of like…”premium” leather on Nike’s or Elk leather on youknowwhat‘s.

This here, is a workshirt from Engineered Garments’ Spring2010 Collection. I’ve been eager to get on my spring/summer rotation, so a white button-down and high-water chinos have been on the immediate list. Now you’re saying, “a white shirt for the summer…a linen shirt?”. I don’t like linen because it reminds me of a corny Caribbean resort…and Jay-Z’s Hustlin’ Remix (love that track). So this 100% cotton workshirt is a good lightweight solution!

In a chitchat with Marcus, he asked me this question: What do you think you will be wearing in a year from now? The question was the beginning to a series of confusing thoughts in my head. I stood there baffled by that seemingly banal inquiry. “I have a feeling you’ll be wearing a suit or something…” he proceeded. Those words which first seemed foolish and humorous soon became not as farfetched as they resonated in my head for a few days. I found in the depths of a forgotten closet of my house, a pair of vintage brown leather oxford shoes (WITH a wooden sole). They were almost too beautiful to be unworn. However, the only manner to be wearing them would be completed with a nice light toned suit. I caught myself in the midst of searching for a suit on Jcrew and actually found 2 to perfectly assemble the outfit I had imagined…Marcus you know something on and beyond my own knowledge hahaha

Kinda stole this idea from Johnny. At least I’m admitting to it. Here’s my little shop guide for the snow season. Had to switch up the wardrobe a little this weekend because of the amount of snow and wind outside, so here are, for me, some essentiels pour l’hiver (winter must-have’s, you fucking blokes) Oh and p.s. to all you hypebeasts reading my blog, I know you do, Don’t give me shit about brand synergy…This isn’t an ensemble. PEACE

I have been shaving my hair since the 7th grade and trust me, it gets cold up there. Cashmere for my head please. Can’t half step on your scarf game, never know when you might need to wrap it around your main squeeze to impress her.

I don’t give a shit, Oxfords are all year-round, I’ll wear that shit to sleep. “Thomas Pink. They make shirts. UK shit. Butter.”-Paul 107. And if you are on a financial slope, then L.L.Bean. Period.

three.

Shawl collars for the win this year. It’s the perfect alternative to the ever so homo turtle necks. W+H and Maiden Noir. Canadian cotton and Japanese cotton only

four.

Take your peacoat, throw it back into your closet and wait til march. Feathers > Wool

five.

You gotta have chinos to go with an oxford, that’s just how it works. It’s like having mashed potato’s with a steak. Beer with pizza. Cheese in a burger. I could go on for ages…

six.

You knew I would suggest a pair of Redwings. I still don’t know if I’m down with the little tongue flap coming on to the toe cap on those Vendor Boots…But that wheat color is just bananas with the royal blue laces.
