I’m super excited about this video. It’s my first real video shoot and edit. Paul just wrapped up his new book, ready to be released. You might have encountered some of his previous work either on my blog or on the notorious shelves at Reed Space. With help from Johnny F Kim, and audio assist from Scott, I think we pulled off an awesome result. The book is called : Photographs inspired by the rap music that once inspired me.
Books arrived today. It’s my fourth. It’s already available at the Sometimes/Desfois shop. This one is a book of photo’s. The photo’s I showed at the 381 projects gallery space in the spring of 2008. Last month the people at Anteism Publishing asked me if I wanted to do a small print project with the shots. I agreed to it and Conor Virtue (my long time cohort) agreed to lay it out. Jacob Gavin had curated that 381 Projects show. The idea behind his show was to get creatives who work in and around the music industry to make art based on the music they actually listen to. The music that inspires them. The music that plays when they work. Rap music moves me. Painting pictures with words over sped up soul loops and big drums inspires me. Anybody who has spent any amount of time with me over the 20 years knows that I speak in rap quotes a lot of the time. It’s like the OHHLA site is uploaded to my brain. Hindsight I should have called the book Lose it when dudes think it’s just music. I have this love hate thing with rap. I feel like I spent 25 years of my life trying to justify it’s merits to people and I’m tired now.

The release of the AW77 Tech Hoodie is the main reason behind my latest adventures with the Nike Sportswear troop. Being the main attraction to Nike’s latest “More than a Hoodie” campaign, the AW77 Tech Hood sports the classic AW77 silhouette, shares the same up-to-the-chin zippers to block out the elements and offers exceptional warmth with it’s select French looped cotton. Along with it’s taped seams and premium materials, is its ability to preserve its same prime shape. Oh and… it’s fully water-repellent!
I came home with a couple of gifts, thanks NSW.

Avid readers of this website will notice my unhealthy obsession with shit that’s waterproof, weatherproof, tear-proof, shatterproof or anything else that is immoderately technical… the ACG line has much improved in the last year, from the introduction of the Lunar Wood with Danish brand Wood Wood, ACG is proving to be on the same page as NSW and Pinnacle. This newly released Lunar Wood+ features the same technical assets as the W.W. project; meaning polymer coated tip and mudguard, ripstop nylon upper, and the same Lunarlon outsole with Dynamic support. These things will keep you dry and running in the worst conditions.

Available here and other NSW accounts.
Here are more visuals of my trip. I was stationed at 21mercer on my first night, working on live photo editting during the cocktail party for Fashion’s Night Out. The hotel I stayed at (Tribeca Grand Hotel) was absolutely overwhelming, from the commendable & meticulous service to the generously offered malin+goetz shower kit, everything had me looking forward to a good night’s rest.

Muji is always a must.

This year’s lookbook forced me in there.

I am humbled and proud to say that I got to work with some great people when I was in Chicago. Nike Sportswear flew me out to do what I do best at the NSW Six Points. For those who don’t already know, Sixpoints is sort of a constantly evolving retail space (yet it is much more than just retail), opened in collaboration with St-Alfred. It aims to highlight NSW’s latest advancements. It is also where I took photos of Chicago’s own “Mavericks”.
See you next week at 21 Mercer, mister MARK III EOS 1D – 24-105mm L series.

A Couple of RAW images. Final results soon

Action shot. by Dawud

It saddens me to say that I only got to spend a mere 24 hour in the city, where 10 of those were consumed by set up and photographing in the space. I definitely need to return to the windy city for some real r & r. Big thanks to Errol, Ginger, Dawud, Josh, everyone at Nike, ST A and Six Points for the great experience.
My recent commissioned work for Nike Sportswear had me taking photos of my city to reflect their latest AW77 Campaign that took place in Tokyo, London & New York. I shot a couple of places, where people would do their running in Montreal, such as the Canal, the Mount-Royal, Old Montreal or simply in the middle of the city. Here are some of the images that were used during the customization event at the OTH gallery.

I’m working closely with NSW on a project (this isn’t it), but I took photos of the new FW10 collection that just arrived at OTH. The actual photo project I’m curating will be featured at the NSW Mavericks event taking place this Thursday at 1021a Ste-Catherine St; official NSW embroidery machines will be in place, customizing Nike’s famous AW77 Hoodies for the swoosh fanatics. It starts at 5pm and ends at 10pm, if you are in town make sure to be there.
