Oakley : Osheaga 2010

This is my second year coming out to Osheaga courtesy of Oakley. Mark and his crew did an amazing job at making sure everyone’s having the best possible experience while running with the Oakley “VIP” badge. From an endless stock of Dagwoods & Bud to a free pair of Oakley sunglasses, every aspect was covered for their guests to enjoy the festivities. My job? take photos, document, drink beer and enjoy the music!

I got there on Sunday afternoon and was able to see Black Keys, Snoop, Metric, Sonic Youth & Weezer…not a bad lineup huh?

Big thanks to Mark @ Oakley. And, Shouts to Marcus, Justin & Maura for being great company.

Guest Post : Death Threat

The American hardcore band were in town last week playing at the Underworld venue. The Connecticut lineup had a few new members but lead vocalist Aaron Butkus was no new face on the stage. Originally formed in 1997, Death Threat have blessed us with their original sound in the hardcore scene for over a decade. Not many bands their age continue to play smaller shows, less festivals and more USA/Canadian tours as much as they do.

Introduction: Oakley Elite Collection

Mark had the courtesy of inviting the crew and I to a private first-hand viewing of Oakley`s bread and butter. ”A Pinnacle in Technology and Design” (the collections subtitle) might have slightly been an understatement as my eyes and hands were rooted by the ensemble of gems. As Mark explained, Oakley, much like car companies, have a need to push the envelope even though the revenue may not justify the cost of their prototypical projects. One prototype might inspire another. Look at it this way; here I am documenting this revolution in technologies for the e-world to see…so at the end of the day it’s marketing. And the final result…is probably very fructifying.

”Sometimes we do it just because we can.” may sound a little pretentious…but if I could, I probably would.

The main attraction of the night was a C-Six made of pure carbon fibre…a material that is thinner than human hair yet stronger than high tensile steel. Evidently, these aren’t made for the everyday cool guy looking for a pair of frogskins…they retail for an impressive sum of 4500$ CAD.

Cro-Mags

I went to Cro-Mags last night with Maura and Alex. Not THE cro-mags..but JJ, Mackie, AJ, Mike…which is still a legendary lineup. More pics later!

Jesse b.

Aside from ceo-ing a major distribution company (Handling brands like Penfield / WeSC / New Balance / Brixton / PF flyers), something most people don’t know about Jesse is that he has a University degree in photography. Over the weekend, he was at the Impact game, where Montreal prevailed over the White Caps in the USL finals. Here are some amazing shots he took…I’m trying to figure out how they came out like that.

Iron Age

Iron Age show last night at some sketchy spot in Griffintown (friendship cove) with Maura the hardcore kid. It smelled like shit. But it was pretty awesome for photos I must say. Oh and I’m obsessed with the American flag, don’t ask.
