Added a much needed mogul to the GRAIL department of the Visvim section in my closet. Released back in 08, the packable GORE-TEX® Jacket designed for Number(Nine) is considered by most as an important piece in any collector’s archive. While Takahiro Miyashita’s coveted cult label is discontinued, his N(N) legacy lives through his collaborative projects and his new endeavor called The Soloist… I’m just happy to be one of the few people who got my hands on this one!

Maura was off to Paris last week so I handed her some money and asked her to surprise me with a souvenir. And I couldn’t have asked for a better return item. Blaise Mautin is a french parfumeur who’s reknowned scents have glazed the aura of the Park Hyatt Vendome in Paris. The spray is a perfect marriage of Paris’ romantic allure and Hiroki‘s immaculate branding, but that’s aside from the luxurious woodland spice emanating from the essential oils which contain this Erlenmeyer flask.

Dylan passed by wearing a pair of MINT condition Spring/Summer 2008 elk leather FBT Classics, had to snap a photo. That was just about the year I fell in love with Vis, and around the same time I picked up my first pair of Jokhang FBTs. Never looked back.

The leather laces snapped on my pair of Mowat’s so I wrote an email to VISVIM; to my surprise, 15 minutes later, I had a reply sitting in my inbox inquiring my address so they can resolve the issue Asap. No questions asked, not even asking for a photo of the defect, just my address. Two days later, a UPS man drops off a neat package from Cubism inc; inside, my laces, with the FW09 Dissertation. Customer service at its BEST. Another reason why this brand gets my FULL support.

It’s called a dissertation, because it isn’t simply a catalog, there’s always a prologue in which Hiroki will explain from A-Z his inspiration for the season. Included are photos from his resourceful travels, allowing the consumer to see the full idea that lead to the garment. In this particular one, Hiroki talks about his visit to Padova Italy, where he studied the hand-sewn Goodyear welt technique used in his FOLK line.
