Elk leather

Ransom Varsity Jacket

Ransom‘s varsity approach has been lingering on every forum’s latest jacket thread. Seemingly a quickstrike release from the Canadian brand, the jacket is exclusively available at the Toronto flagship store. While it would have been nice to have a custom built TOJ, it felt appropriate to support a local business.

The sleeves were a pleasant surprise, although confirmation is needed, they smell like they are made of Elk leather (I know elk when I smell it), and for an affordable price of $160, there was no time for hesitation. OK ok….it was a little crazy to think i could get elk leather sleeves on a 180$ jacket, after confirmation…they are calf leather.

An Old Love Affair

It was my birthday last week. A dear person in my life got a pair of vizavimu flown to me from overseas. SO let me take a second to say, thank you and i love you for this. What can be characterized as one of my ULTIMATE grails, the Logan lo elk’s are beyond what I imagined they’d be. Naysayers will call them ripoffs of authentics & eras, but I’ll let the elk leather do the talking and ignore what they have to tell me. Upon arrival, I had to give it the vinny seal of approval by giving the elk a good sniff(that’s how you find fake vis’), indeed, they were good and my cheeks began to hurt from an excessive amount of smiling.

Visvim Gabo Elk

It took me a little longer to achieve a moment of clarity in terms of how much I actually wanted these. I had always been attracted by that heel flap…but always grunted at the the tails. But the notion of them being inspired by Canadian native heritage soothed my unwillingness; so, I gave in. The elk leather is beyond what I imagined, incomparable to the elk on earlier models like the logan lo’s. softer, alot softer.
