Pendleton Fall/Winter 2011 Preview

Had the pleasure of taking a peak at the upcoming Pendleton Fall/Winter 2011 collection with the OTH crew. Everything is looking great, I’m especially feeling the Shetland crews, which are not pictured but the swatch of melange wool is a little foreshadow of what’s to come.

Japan Retail : 45rpm

I will also post my retail checkpoints as much as possible. Starting off strong: 45rpm.

VISVIM ISLE KNIT POCKET TEE

I love this t-shirt. I am pretty jealous that she has it…

Hands on : Redwing Wabasha

I’ve been a fan of Irish Setters for a while and my 875′s are far from its terminal, but the Wabasha Collection is making me wanna put them aside. I got to see them in person at work and the Vibram sole really sold itself to me (not in any detriment to the deck soles, but I need these for Canadian winters). The canvas ankle panels are great too; makes the foot much more pliable, and the promenade a little more complacent.

White Shirts

I’ve been seeing a lot of Herringbone weave patterns in the last couple of seasons. It’s one of those things, that make a garment noteworthy, kind of like…”premium” leather on Nike’s or Elk leather on youknowwhat‘s.

This here, is a workshirt from Engineered Garments’ Spring2010 Collection. I’ve been eager to get on my spring/summer rotation, so a white button-down and high-water chinos have been on the immediate list. Now you’re saying, “a white shirt for the summer…a linen shirt?”. I don’t like linen because it reminds me of a corny Caribbean resort…and Jay-Z’s Hustlin’ Remix (love that track). So this 100% cotton workshirt is a good lightweight solution!

Hollander & Lexer

During my short stay in the big Apple, one of the boutiques in BK really was quite an experience. A real Gentleman’s Store, as would call it our local host, Hollander & Lexer makes most of the newly opened “hipster-heritage” stores in Williamsburg look like a large bucket of watery. From their knowledgeable staff  (who actually tailor whatever you purchase to your liking) to the boutique’s finely tuned decor, everything is just right. Brands include : John Rich & Bros, Engineered Garments, BillyKirk & Russell Mocs among others…

“Stored in antique display cases and furniture are shirts that look better a little wrinkled, leather shoes that look better a bit scuffed and jeans that look better a bit dirty.”

Friendly Fire : Riveted

The Bio reads: “Just another incurable collector of Americana. From vintage clothing to books records, you name it…..Love the thrill of hunting for “stuff” at the flea market and can’t get enough of my weekly dose .I know!! it’s a disease….” Let’s just say that the bit of provided information is considerably modest. In fact, Patrick Segui isn’t JUST another one, he goes Beyond what most of us already know; from buttons dating from WWII, to a pair of vintage Irish Setters, every piece has its history and Patrick tells it perfectly.

Pure Gold : “A close up reveals a little trick i’ve learned from a ww2 vet.A knot in the middle of your laces will keep them even for ever and save you time. You won’t have to “aline” them ever again ……..”

LOOK : The Japanese-American Lumberjack

1 ~ Engineered Garments reigns supreme when it comes to knits. This 90% wool cardi is better made than what the eye shows. There are enforced pocket linings so the delicate stitching on the wool doesn’t unravel.

2 ~ The shirt is a corduroy lumberjack plaid by Nom De Guerre, the pearl buttons elevates the stature of what a “lumberjack” is supposed to represent.

3 ~ The Pants are a generic pair of BDU cargo’s. I like that the olive is all faded to the point of almost looking grey.

4 ~ Visvim Mowat’s boot in vegetable tanned leather doesn’t get as much love as they should. The fact that they’re veggie tanned means for great aging potential. (ps : Foster gets copyright on “shoes in the air” photos)
