I am humbled and proud to say that I got to work with some great people when I was in Chicago. Nike Sportswear flew me out to do what I do best at the NSW Six Points. For those who don’t already know, Sixpoints is sort of a constantly evolving retail space (yet it is much more than just retail), opened in collaboration with St-Alfred. It aims to highlight NSW’s latest advancements. It is also where I took photos of Chicago’s own “Mavericks”.

See you next week at 21 Mercer, mister MARK III EOS 1D – 24-105mm L series.

It saddens me to say that I only got to spend a mere 24 hour in the city, where 10 of those were consumed by set up and photographing in the space. I definitely need to return to the windy city for some real r & r. Big thanks to Errol, Ginger, Dawud, Josh, everyone at Nike, ST A and Six Points for the great experience.

Curator of JJJJound, Justin recently launched latelierj.com, a multifaceted creative agency. JRS Rules’ most recent project involves the design of a wardrobe classic in conjunction with streetwear brand Obey. If anyone has been following their line for the passed…5-6 seasons, they would have expected such a move as we’ve felt a sense of evolving continuity in the minimal branding. Put differently, the brand has simply been designing some of the strongest collections in their market. The 5-panel they’ve created together is the epitome of what they’ve been preaching in their latest seasons. The camp hat features multiple cotton fabric panels with stitched eyelets and an adjustable web belt closure. Moreover, it features a blank leather patch on the front and a specialty “JRS RULES” embroidery on the back. Also to be expected are 3 t-shirt designs.

The term WDYWT is no stranger to any forum members’ vocabulary. I joined the SUFU & Hypebeast forums somewhere in 2006. It was a great time for young thinkers like myself and some of my other peers who have now made a name for themselves. In fact, it was a fundamental step into making this blog as successful as it is. People were a lot more open-minded and tolerant toward failure and poor knowledge. It wasn’t always so frenetic as it is today; just isn’t the same nowadays. This post is purely for nostalgic reasons, somewhat of a tribute to those times when one could share his own way of putting pieces together without getting frowned upon. To all the old members from the greater times (you know who you are), I salute you and make sure to check-in, in the comment section!

In fact, the Yoshida Co has been producing hand made utilitarian bags since the early 30′s. They boast an impressive reputation by bringing a simple & stylish design approach yet putting a complete devotion to functionality, materials and fabrication.

I’ve owned this case for a year now. It belongs to the Freestyle collection. The leather-like effect is obtained by rubbing by hand the polyurethane-coated canvas making it fully weather & tear resistant. So far, after a year of living in my back pocket, the wallet is in MINT condition. Not a scratch or a tear in sight.

The leather laces snapped on my pair of Mowat’s so I wrote an email to VISVIM; to my surprise, 15 minutes later, I had a reply sitting in my inbox inquiring my address so they can resolve the issue Asap. No questions asked, not even asking for a photo of the defect, just my address. Two days later, a UPS man drops off a neat package from Cubism inc; inside, my laces, with the FW09 Dissertation. Customer service at its BEST. Another reason why this brand gets my FULL support.

It’s called a dissertation, because it isn’t simply a catalog, there’s always a prologue in which Hiroki will explain from A-Z his inspiration for the season. Included are photos from his resourceful travels, allowing the consumer to see the full idea that lead to the garment. In this particular one, Hiroki talks about his visit to Padova Italy, where he studied the hand-sewn Goodyear welt technique used in his FOLK line.

Since I already have this one in my Library. I’m gonna give it away to you guys, My Readers! All you have to do is follow me on Twitter at http://twitter.com/onandbeyond and Tweet : Follow @onandbeyond and RT to win Visvim’s FW09 Dissertation!
