FOUND : Timex for J.Crew
by Vincent
I’ve been eying this field watch since it came out last fall, I was quite surprised they would still have it over at J.Crew. I’m no watch connaisseur and trust me there are some crazy fanatics in that area, so I won’t even start by telling you how “amazing” this watch is. I just like that it’s simple but heavy (I think that’s a good thing for a watch, right?).

It’s even more beautiful than on the web site! Yes, heavy watches are a plus. :)
i love the changing you can do with the straps jcrew has so many you can pick from
J.Crew has a lot, but I’ve got some from http://www.smartturnout.com/products/watches-and-watchstraps/us-university-watches.html
as well as Sid Masburn in Atlanta.
Vincent, what type of lens did you shoot that with? I always love your shots.
Thanks!
I’m dating myself here, but I can remember getting an LL Bean field watch when I was about 10. It was a couple of years before the whole Swatch Watch craze. The great thing about these watches is that they are a practical and affordable option without giving up style or the ability to be worn and abused. They look better with age.
I co-sign Chase on J Crew’s wide selection of interchangable bands. There are some notable other options out there: L.L. Bean still makes their field watch and Seiko has some really decent ones as well.
I’m waiting to find a vintage Logines:

@Dylan : Thnx for dropping some knowledge. It’s funny I was debating over the LLbean, Orvis or Jcrew one actually, ended up with this one; the face was the cleanest looking one.
@Chase : Agreed. I might have to check out the Khaki ones
@Rashidi : thanks for the link. Will definitely consider those!
@Patricia : good to know its a plus! haha, thnx for the nice words too.
What type of lens do you shoot with?
Never mind – i see it at the top 50mm 1.8. Thanks!
@ Rashidi : Sorry, overlooked your question, I’ve been shooting with a 50mm 1.8 for the passed couple of posts.
dam this watch is so nice . want to cop
I have this watch, it’s alright; keeps time just fine and looks sort of like a vintage military watch. It’s got a pretty clean style that can go with all sorts of looks depending on the strap it’s on.
They say it’s a 1940s style, but it really looks as it takes more cues from 70s and 80s military watches. Don’t be sold on that “vintage inspired” line. Also, take a close look each of the little Indiglo hour markers, each has the exact same distressed pattern.
The nice thing about the watch is that there’s a ton of those NATO straps to be found on the internet that fit this particular watch. And probably for cheaper than J.Crew is selling them for to boot.
