HUgE

When I was in Toronto this summer, I was in the search for Japanese magazines and discovered one I hadn’t ever seen before, I was used to the Street Jack, Cool Trans, Samurai…among others. But never seen this one before. While I was accustomed to the regular layout pages chocked up of products, fillers, and advertisement, HUgE felt much more substantial as I slowly flipped through its 145 pages to be exact. In other words, they’ve mastered what means to be aesthetically presentable while still maintaining a great focus on the products sharing the spotlight in their features. A person like I, who can’t read Japanese, just wants what is pleasing to the eye, which makes this magazine perfect for me and other fellow foreigners. I think this deserves a spot in my magazine shelf next to my Theme magazine’s and Visvim dissertations.

ps: where else would you see the names tenderloins, margiela, visvim & patagonia all in the same magazine…
