Dan dropped off a little package for me at the shop. Once in a while, he releases a photo zine called Society Suckers, a raw expose of the hardcore scene he is so deeply rooted to. Only pictures. No text. They are numbered and limited to 100 copies of each issue. It’s currently unavailable to most normal humans…but he promised that we would soon be seeing it pop here and there. In fact, we are in the talks for a little “project partnership”? (i hate calling shit collaborations…that word is fucking gay). Wait for more, and here is a little preview of what to expect

Found some old pictures from this summer on my card. This is homie Matt’s bike. It’s gotta be one of the sickest bikes I’ve ever seen…Foundry frame, vintage campy hubs, clips, post, etc.

One of my favorite stores is having an early boxing day sale right now. Everything…EVERYTHING is at 50% off… But you gotta be special to get the discount, and I’ll be glad to hook you up with my promotional code. send me an email ! Be quick! The ‘COOL PEOPLE Only 50% Sale’ ends December 31st, 2008. After that the regular 30% Sale will start for normal humans. :D
After work today, before we knew it, East, Johnny and I found ourselves alone in the shop setting up the sale for Boxing day. Yeah, the three asians working overtime…typical. We decided to take pictures for proof hahaha. What? Just because we’re Buddhists/non-christian/atheists don’t mean we don’t have families you fuckers.

Jeremy lent me a book this weekend called Mascots & Mugs – The Characters and Cartoons of Subway Graffiti by David Villorente & Todd James, features insightful interviews with artists who have blessed the subways of New York with their creations over the passed 3 decades like Kaws, Slick, Skeme, Mode 2…etc And I couldn’t describe it better than this: “The photographs in this book unveil graffiti’s origins in tribalism, cave painting, and cargo cult. Figures morphing in hieroglyph and pictogram…and simultaneously point the way to the alphabet’s inevitable future as insignia, decal, emblem…What’s delivered so often by the creators here, with immediacy typical of the pop impulse, is the slick and chaotic vocabulary of commercial culture decanted brilliantly into folk idiom, on the spot, in the dark, on the fly.” -Jonathan Lethem

I just noticed I had forgot to announce the winner for the Lifetime Cut&Sew event. Tyler, who’s modeling his own creation, designed and produced a very A.P.C-esque fishtail duffel coat. And being a loyal enthusiast of the Atelier de Production et de Creation, he was my first pick to be on the podium. The jacket, features big gray tortoise buttons, fishtail back, and detailed leather lacing serving as waist and hood tighteners. Evidently, all the judges were impressed by the final production. Tyler, who used to work at Creme in Banff as the buyer/manager, is now working over at Vans‘ Canadian distributor Odysee Sports. Congrats Tyler! I look forward to seeing the duffel jacket at the Lifetime booking.
